Since its launch in 2009, CEASe has helped thousands of victims and families through its EMDTs, case consultations, technical assistance, trainings, and the Helpline. Our programs are designed to respond to well-documented needs identified through our research, including collaborative research with leading private and governmental institutions and our involvement in public and private efforts to help safeguard older adults at the local, state, and national levels. Because of our reputation for excellence and collaboration, we bring high visibility and greater awareness to the issue of elder abuse, elder justice, and the needs of victims.
Professionals working with older adults might detect elder abuse but are often unsure of how to assess and assist the victims and their family members. The Center on Elder Abuse Solutions (CEASe) at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) has a team of specialists who provide case consultation, technical assistance, trainings, and support on a range of elder abuse-related issues. Specialists include forensic accountants, geriatricians, geropsychiatrists, social workers, civil legal providers, and counselors.
You’re their lifeline. We’re your Helpline.
The Center for Elder Abuse Solutions is proud to offer a unique service to concerned persons in the lives of elder abuse victims. A concerned person is a family member, friend, or neighbor impacted by elder abuse.
The National Elder Abuse MDT Training and Technical Assistance Center will provide innovative strategies and materials for each team’s daily operations; technical assistance for team support and case consultations; training for professionals serving teams; guidance on integrating specialty services into the work of the teams; strategies to ensure responsiveness to each community through trauma-informed and trauma-responsive approaches; and consulting on sustainability and long-range funding strategies.
“Ageism is the biggest obstacle to the detection and recognition of elder abuse.”
